Overview

The goal of this project is to design a mechanism that opens the door from a container. The door should be at the top of the container when is open.

Design

Process

Considering that an ISO standard shipping container is 8ft wide, 8.5ft high and 40ft long. Then to picture how the door should move and the dimensions that the mechanism must have to comply with the desired movement, a simulation using Math Illustrations was used. The result is shown in the video

Now that the basic dimensions for the mechanism are known, the container and all of the parts were design using CAD. After assembling all parts the following animation was obtained
